Information

Come fall, the head priest bought snow geese for the residential school. The senior and junior girls would pluck, cut and prepare the snow geese for canning. The brothers canned and steamed the tins on this huge stove. These canned geese provided for our winter food supply. The fall snow geese were delicious. The priest did this, purchasing snow geese for canning.
Come spring, the priest would purchase Canada geese and repeat this canning process again. We would pluck and prepare the geese. This is what we did while in residential school. The girls primarily helped in the preparation of canning.
