I was born out on the land, 100 miles from here in Kaposkow in the winter, January 27. No one was around, just my family and grandmother. I was delivered by my grandmother. No one knew where a child came from. Back then children weren’t taught about this fact of life. It was fascinating. My grandmother use to say, ‘a baby will run over soon, don’t be noisy or else the baby won’t come’. It was an indication my mom was expecting. We weren’t told of this news in advance.
